Happy New Year 2009

Happy New Year!

It's almost here.

Resolutions for 2009

1. To get my Christmas cards completed before Christmas 2009. So that I can actually send them out.
2. To use every stamp set that I have right now. And for those that I don't use?
Maybe a scrapbook garage sale or blog candy for you my readers.
3. To go through my supplies and determine what I need to keep and what I can get rid of.
4. To actually update the blog more regularly with cards/layouts. It's been a crazy month so I haven't been able to update much but it should get a lot better.
5. And of course, like most people I want to lose weight.
6. And I would love to get a scrap room to create in. And to host people for crops in my home.

Have a happy and safe New Years. Remember don't run with scissors.

Happy Crafting.

Working on card for Shoebox Swap

Yes!

I found the cutest stamp for my card for the 1st Annual" San Antonio 2009 SCS Shoebox Swap.

It's made by American Art Stamp you can find it here:
Couple in Love

It's so cute.

I also found some super cute paper. I'll have to take a picture of the paper it's super cute. It goes really well with the stamp.

I have to order some cardstock to go with it. So if anyone is interested let me know and I can place an order for you too.

Now just to find the embellishment to go with it. I plan on heading out to Micheal's in a bit.

I would take a picture of the card but that would ruin the surprise for those attending the shoebox swap.

But, I will give a few teaser pics for you guys.

Happy Crafting.

Christmas 2008 Countdown

Just one more day and it's here.

I did work on a card last night. I was trying to come up with a card using a sketch that I'd found.

I will try to post it later today along with the website that I got the sketch from. Probably after work before the in-laws come over.

I am trying to come up with a card design for the Shoebox Swap in
San Antonio. It's in January, which is in like a week.

Thank goodness it's in the middle of the month though.

Plus, I've got to find out if I can get a ride but the gal that I'm going to ask is out of town for the holidays. I think she'll say yes though. At least I hope she does.

The owner of the store I work at brought our Christmas presents yesterday. Cool. I got a Target gift card. It's so cute. I'll have to take a picture of it and post it. I do go to their scrapbook section but rarely buy because I'm always looking for a good deal or discount and they don't usually do that in those types of stores. Since their not a craft store. But since I have the gift card I figure why not?

I used to go to Target and Walmart after Christmas to try to get my favorite ornaments for the next year on sale. But it seems that since I've been married they stopped carrying Precious Moments ornaments. So I have to go to the Hallmark store to try to find them on sale.

Almost all our Christmas ornaments are Precious Moments. Except for the ones dh's family gave us.

With this being such a rough year we didn't really decorate that much for Christmas. We did put up 2 little trees. And because I had a dream about Mary and the baby Jesus and the miracle of childbearing. When I woke up I felt compelled to get out all our Nativity sets. Weird, I know but I never have dreams that I actually can remember, so I figured if it was important enough to remember when I woke, then it was important enough to do what I felt compelled to do.

Plus, since my b-day was a wash because the car died on us that night going home from work and we didn't get it back for 2 days. Plus, it cost $500 which is the $$ that we were going to use for me at the dentist. Which I'm super ticked off about because I went to this Dentist 2x. The first time was to see what could be done about my tooth. I asked if they could just pull it or what they wanted to do with it. They told me (and actually made me a little ticked) that they don't pull teeth because it messes up your whole mouth and the teeth start growing funny and yada, yada, yada. Which is a shock to me because I have a tooth on the exact opposite side of my mouth from this tooth that I went to the dentist about that I had gotten pulled and have never had any problems with it. And I know it's been pulled for a good decade at least. So the dentist tells me that he will do a root canal and put a cap on my tooth.

So the 2nd time, I go to this dentist to get my tooth root canaled and to have a cap put on it. OK so they took an X-ray the 1st time I was there and gave me the whole schpeal about needing to go and get the root canal and cap. So they've got my mouth all open to do this. And then the dentist says that he can't finish because of my roots being to hard for his equipment. He tells me to go to the specialty dentist. OK this 1st dentist was supposed to cost $500 in total for the root canal and cap (thank god we have dental insurance). So a couple of hours later I get in to see the specialty dentist. They do an X-ray and the dentist evaluates it. And immediately he tells me how it's not going to be easy to do my root canal. OK, I'm all for honesty but really if this dentist can tell that off of an X-ray, shouldn't the 1st dentist have known that before opening my mouth and trying to do all this. I mean honestly if we didn't live in the burbs I totally would have just gone back to the clinic even though we do have dental. Because yes the tooth on the other side of my mouth that got pulled like a decade ago was hard for the dentist to pull. At least I thought so while I was sitting in his chair. He did it. And didn't complain once to me about it. He totally tried to make me feel at ease and comfortable and this is at the dental clinic. And when he was done he told me that I could go to the non-clinic dentist and have them put in a cap or whatever. I was poor at the time so didn't do it. And you know what it hasn't ever been a problem for me. I mean yes something may get stuck in that space just like food gets stuck in between your teeth. It's just that space is a little bigger. But I take care of it and it never has bothered me.

OK. So the 2nd dentist is all like are you Catholic. And I'm like NO, but my mom is. And he says to me that I need her to pray for me because there's this patron Catholic Saint of Dentistry. And then when I leave the office I get the estimate for the root canal alone from this office and it's $700. $500 for the root canal and $200 for the specialty dentist.

So the 1st dentist before I left had put some stuff on my tooth to hold it over till I could get the root canal and the cap. And the tooth was fine. Until this week where now it's a total pain in the butt. It hurts constantly. Where as it hurt before and that's why I went to the dentist but it wasn't constant and I could totally use ora-jel and it helped relieve the pain but know that doesn't do squat.

Sorry to go all ballistic but honestly it's totally frustrating.

Happy Holidays.

Happy Birthday to M.E.

Happy Birthday to me.

Yea. Today is my birthday.

I won't divulge how old I am today but it is my birthday.

I had a crop at my house Saturday and Sunday. My mom and dad got me a bouquet of roses, some spending money, and a German chocolate cake.

My dh gave me a cute Hello Kitty die. And my friend Erica brought pansatt.

My in-laws gave me a gift certificate to their scrapbook store, Memory Depot. Oh, and they gave us passes to see Yes, Man with Jim Carrey. Plus, score while we were at the theater to see Yes, Man we also got passes to go see the new Adam Sandler movie Bedtime Stories. Score.

And at work they got me a pizza. Sweet. They're so nice at my work. I'm super greatful for my job.

So it's been a good birthday for the most part. Then our only car died on the way home and now we have to see about getting the car fixed tomorrow.

Just when I thought we could go to the mall and get me a Build-a-Bear. It's tradition, ever since our Honeymoon, dh always takes me to Build-a-Bear.

This is Build-a-Bear's Hello Kitty.

Oh, well there's always tomorrow.

Happy crafting.

Going Green Challenge

Hi!

This is the card that I created for the LSC Challenge Going Green. I also used this Card Sketch challenge on there too.

We were challenged to recycle supplies.

This card is completely pulled from my scrap shoe box. That's where all my scraps go to hide.

So I can't really say where the paper came from.

Well, I do know that the cute tree paper came from my mil store. I bought it last year for a Thanksgiving card swap.

I love SCS there are such nice ladies on there and really interesting challenges.

And believe it or not since I used paper from my scrap shoe box I didn't actually have to do that much trimming on the card.

Christmas Decorating

Hi!

I figured right now would be a good time to get the place all decked out for Christmas.

Although, I might change it on the 16th which is MY BIRTHDAY.

I won't divulge how old I'll be but it will definitely be MY BIRTHDAY.

My dh just got me one of my presents yesterday. Yea! It's a Hello Kitty Sizzix die and I can't wait to use it.

I'll let you see all the cool things that I make with it.

Limited Supplies Challenge 197

Hi!

I love my Sizzix. It's great for not only Sizzix, but also Cuttlebug and Quickutz.

I created this card for the LSC197 Challenge on SCS where you are limited to only using snowflake stamps and embossing. It had to be monochromatic, you needed to add some sort of “bling” or sparkle to your card and sentiments could only be ONE WORD.

And I was playing with my little girl dog Dixie. Who was wearing her winter coat which is all pinks and white. I'll have to take a picture. She's so cute.

And I really do like the card sketch challenges. I used this sketch for the card.

I always worry that my cards are just the same design each time and now my card designs are expanding from doing these challenges.

I challenge all of you to go out there and start getting crafty even if you have to snag an idea from somewhere else.

Happy Crafting.

Case a Card Challenge

Hi!

This card was created for the Case a Card challenge on SCS.

I love this SU! Merci stamp set. I even had this butterfly paper that I must have gotten through a swap or something, plus it totally is the same as the paper on the original card that I cased except that the color on mine is pink and the original card was blue.

The ink that was used is SU! Pixie Pink and I had to stamp it and then stamp it again to get this lighter shade.

I really enjoy the card challenges that they post on SCS. They're a lot of fun.

Materials Used:
Stamps: SU! Merci
Paper: CM Cardstock White and Pink Lemonade, and SU! paper scrap
Ink: SU! Pixie Pink
Accessories: Sizzix Frame, Ornate #2, Hero Arts pearls

The card that I cased was designed by Annascreations on SCS. She has a beautiful gallery of cards that she has designed.

This is the card that I cased: Amethyst Butterfly

Friends Always/SC205

Hi!

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted anything.

I promise to do better next week.

I made this for a Card Sketch challenge that they had on Wednesday on SCS.

The base cardstock was bought at Archiver's, I don't actually remember the name of it. And the acrylic stamp set that I used was also bought at Archiver's, I think that Hero Arts made the set.

Holiday Tag

Hi!

It's been a couple of days since I posted anything. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

DH, the dogs and I did. We had family over this weekend from UT.

Well, they stayed with the in-laws but still we did see them every day that they were here.

That's why I haven't done too much crafting.

I just completed this tag for a gift tag exchange that my upline for CM is doing tomorrow during our Christmas party.

Since CM doesn't really do anything with stamps. I felt that I should honor that and not use stamps in my tag design.

So instead I used CM cardstock. I only buy the 12x12 size but it also comes in 8x8.

The colors I used are White, Black, Carrot for the feet and beak, Lavender for the sky. I also used the Decorative trimmer to create the ground.

For the tag I used my Sizzix Tags, Scallop. The cute penguin is a Quickutz die exclusively made for Archiver's, and the snowflakes are from a Die 2x2 Snowflake #2.

The ribbon is from American Crafts.

I think it's very cute. And I did try to be good and not use any stamps(since CM doesn't do that) or papers not made by CM.

I will try to do some more crafts this week. But tomorrow I will be at a Christmas party that my upline is throwing.

So I will see you all on Wednesday.
