Anya in Wonderland

Alice Anya
Hi!

This is actually my 2nd The Greeting Farm stamp set that I received this week. I know
I haven't made a card with the 1st set but I promise I will.

This card is actually a CASE of UK Caz's. It is the challenge over at
Club Anya called "I wanna be just like ..." You should definitely check out the original card over on Club Anya.

Also one of the challenges over at SOA was Clear & Simple Stamps:A Stitch in Time.

I had planned to do more cards today but you know how it is when you only get 1 day off.

Oh, well. Work just gets in the way of my crafting again.

And the SouthernBella FMS Featurebella vote will be closing in 25 minutes as of typing this.

I must accept that I lost. But at least, not by as much as some of the other girls.

Hi!

I'm so exhausted but I feel like I haven't crafted enough lately.

So this card expresses how I feel. Well, except that since I'm
Mormon I can't actually have a cup of coffee. Boy let me tell
you sometimes I really do miss having a cup. Although, when
I used to drink coffee I used to drink those kind that were more
like shakes with sprinkles and whipped cream.

Hi!

Sorry I'm late posting this I had to work.

Been packing since 9am - 5pm. Didn't get home til just now.

The days when there's 2 of us on a Saturday it's slow and DEAD

MSB Seussical Boots & Challenge #4

MSB Seussical Boots
Hi!

It's Saturday and you know what that means.

There's a challenge on the MSB blog.

This time the DT was challenged to use this stamp of the garden/rain boots.

The boots look so whimsical it reminded me of Dr. Seuss so that's how
I colored them and picked out the designer paper to go with it.

Plus, that's not the only thing going on over at MSB today.

It's also release day. There are so many new digis being released today it will make your head spin.

I will post about that a little later as I have to get ready for work.

I know on a Saturday? Most of you are probably still in bed or wish you were.

Oh, and don't forget if you haven't VOTEd for Featurebella over at SouthernBellaFMS. I'm Contestant# 6. Today is your last chance. It's the American Idol of the stamping world right now and every vote counts.

I Facebook Now

Hi!

Just wanted to let you know that I decided to go a head and do it.

I have a Facebook page now. Facebook won over Twitter by 2 votes.

I put the badge for my Facebook page on the sidebar just in case you'd like
to see what I'm up to. Also it has my name just in case you were wondering
who Mary Driggs is, the M.E. in Cr8ive M.E. stands for Mary Ellen but since
I don't always go by that I figured I'd just use my first name.

Plus, since I have my iTouch with me always. Whenever I'm connected you
can see what I'm up to and vice versa. The iTouch was an early anniversary
present from DH, especially since our anniversary isn't until the 8th of June.

Check out my blog candy that I'm offering in honor of my anniversary.

I will try to get a card or 2 made today for you guys.

Happy Crafting,

Special Thanks

Hi!

Today is Memorial Day and I've been following an amazing Blog Hop to help get more
people to send out cards and make donations to Cards For Heroes.

To follow the hop start HERE.

It's so inspiring that I too made a card for the troops.

Special Thanks GI

This will be one of the Any Hero cards that I send. Well, except that it's obviously
more aimed for a female soldier.

I remember back when I was in Junior High they had all the kids whose parents
had served come and speak to our school at a special assembly to Honor our
Heroes. My bio dad and mom were still together back then and so I asked him to
attend the assembly. Back when I was a child they had us do things that you don't
see in schools anymore like every morning we would say the Pledge of Allegiance.

I'm not saying that all the things that happened back then were good but I do wish
my niece and nephew could do some of the things that we did back when I was
there age, like saying the Pledge.

Almost all the men in my family have served our nation. My bio dad was in the Navy,
my step-dad's brother retired from the Air Force, my bio dad's brothers all served in
the military in one branch or another. My father-in-law served and currently my
brother-in-law serves in the Air Force.

So I encourage you to please take some time today to either visit the blog hop or just
to write a note on the Cards for Heroes Cbox.

And if you feel inspired to send cards or make a donation to Cards for Heroes.

Our troops do so much for us that's the least we can do.

The Simply G.I. Jane stamp that I used is a digi stamp created by Modern Sugar Blvd.
You can find her here, if you'd like to make a card for your special soldier or cards for Cards for Heroes. Right now MSB is having a Blog Candy contest, which I am submitting this card to.

And the sentiment is by Hero Arts. Which is one of the blogs on the main hop.

**People have been asking about the designer paper. I actually got this a while ago
back when
I first started scrapbooking. So I don't recall who made it but when I was
looking through my
scraps I found it and just thought it would be perfect for this card.**

Materials Used:
Stamps: Modern Sugar Blvd G.I. Jane, Hero Arts
Paper: CM Cardstock White, Royal Blue, Wausau Bright White

Ink: VersaColor 82 Black, Copic E00 Skin White, R11 Pale Cherry Pink, Bic Mark-it Tiki Hut Tan, Honey Brown, Adobe Orange, Blue Skies Blue, Moonstone Yellow, Rambunctious Red

Accessories: Colorbok Metal Dots

Sending Sunshine & 2 DT Calls

sunshine anya 005
Hi!

Although, I've been cooped up in the house today. It's been by choice and
partially because it rained yesterday.

I'm definitely hoping it will be bright and sunny tomorrow. Especially since
we're going to my in-laws to BBQ.

And to help motivate me I created this card.

Well, also because they are doing a DT call over at Splendid Stamping with
The Greeting Farm. I just love those Anyas and Ians.

Currently, I only own digi Anyas. This one is Alice Anya. Although, I did order a set during Farmers Market on Thursday. But if you missed that then you definitely don't want to miss the great special for all Club Anya members tomorrow which is FREE Shipping.

If I can figure out how over my scrapping allowance I am this month maybe I can get dh to let me purchase another set tomorrow.

The sketch for this card comes from Stamp Something. They have 4 DT spots that are becoming available at the end of this month. And all month long they have been not
just having their weekly challenges but also with each challenge you also can submit that card to be considered for the DT call. This is actually the last opportunity, so if you love Stamp Something and would love the opportunity to be on the DT then you won't want to miss this last chance.

The sketch was created by one of the departing DT members. Check it out here.

Also Stamp Something is celebrating their blogoversary and they have some great blog candy up for grabs. Check it out here.

Materials Used:
Stamps: The Greeting Farm - Alice Anya, Words Worth Stamps - VO35 Everyday Whimsy
Paper: CM Cardstock Butter, GCD Studios Item# 451 Bird Paradise Anaranjado Margarita Collection

Did you catch my tip?

Hi!

I just popped on over to DRS Designs blog.

They've got an amazing card that uses a brayer. I'm still so new
to scrapbooking/cardmaking that I don't actually have one of these.

Since it's Saturday down at the bottom they have the Tips & Tricks by
You and Me posted. And they did use my tip for creating a banner out of
paper.

Go check it out.

What's going on Memorial Day weekend ...

in the blogosphere?

Well, first don't forget about the Memorial Day Blog Hop. The link is on my sidebar. You can't miss it.

And Enjoy the VA.Sunshine has some great blog candy up for grabs.

I'm already feeling inspired to create cards for the troops. Anything that can put a smile
on their faces is worth doing. Since they do so much for us.

Here's a secret: Back when I was a teenager just graduated from High School, I enlisted
in the ARMY. But I didn't make it because I was involved in a car accident right before
I was supposed to leave for Basic Training. I actually went into a coma for a brief period.
It was horrible and I had to do rehabilitation to get me back to close to where I was
before the accident. After that I didn't feel that I could physically serve our country but
I definitely believe in giving support to our troops.

I still suffer from the pain occassionally, especially when the weather gets really extreme.

So I really admire the soldiers and what they do. No matter what side of the political line
you are on please remember that it is the soldiers that are out their defending your right
to feel that way.

I encourage you to be sure to definitely visit the blog hop and if you're really inspired to
help organize a card making crop in your area.

Happy Crafting.

Thinking of Anya

thinking of anya
Hi!

I got to make another card today can you believe it.

This card is based off "Case of The Curious Card IV" over at Splendid Stamping with The Greeting Farm.

And isn't she a cutie. This is my 1st Anya that I've ever owned. She's a digi stamp, which is something I'm really falling in love with, the whole digi stamp fad.

Don't get me wrong, I love my acrylic and rubber stamps too. But, with a digi you get
to pick the size you want. Infact, I had printed her out smaller but changed my mind and decided to go with the more traditional size of the Anyas.

Actually, I hadn't intended for her to be smaller it's just I didn't know which angle she would print at and so I used the size that I use for my Modern Sugar digis.

Oh, and yay! I went to my mil store and she finally had some more skin pigment Copics.

Materials Used:
Stamps: TGF Riding Hood Anya DS, Studio G
Paper: CM Cardstock Honeydew, Scenic Route SR981 Lynden Parkside Court, Sassafras Life is Beautiful "Fawnd of you too" In Love, SU!, Basic Gray
Ink: VersaColor VC-82 Black, Copics R11 Pale Cherry Pink, R00 Pinkish White, E00 Skin White, Bic Mark-its Lime Sorbet, Margarita Green, Oceanview Blue, Blue Skies Blue, Tiki Hut Tan, Honey Brown, Yellow Blaze, Lemon Bliss, Moonstone Yellow, Spica 03 Red

Memorial Day blog hop

Hi!

I wanted to let you know about an awesome blog hop that's starting tomorrow,
Saturday, May 23rd.

It's in honor of our troops and to help spread the word out about sending cards
to them.

They help defend our country the least we can do is send them a card.

I think this would actually be a brilliant idea for a charity crop. Maybe I can
see if I can get one posted on the meetup group that I belong to.

My (step-dad's side) uncle is retired Air Force, my bio dad served in the Navy, and
my dh's middle brother is on active duty. He's been sent to Iraq 3 times and once to
D.C. Sometimes I forget that D.C. needs to be guarded too. I mean more then other
cities.

I'm looking forward to getting my Bombshell stamps I think the troops would really
enjoy that. And if I can get a response back from Jessica Lynn Originals about my
Certificate Code not working. I wanted to get their Brentwood Soldier digi. I won
$5 at the Jessica Lynn launch party last night. But when I went to use the code
it didn't want to work.

I put a blog button up at the top of my blog bar so that you can be sure to check out
the blog hop.

Bringing you Sunshine

Bringing you Sunshine
Hi!

I just received this fun image in a Virtual Shoebox Swap that I participated in over
at SCS. Very cool.

I did change her up a bit to make her more my style.

Also there's a CASE Contest over at Club Anya. This is Ohio Mary's card that I CASEd. I just love those Anya's and Ian's. DH thinks they look like weird space aliens though.

I did use quite a bit of what was sent to create the Original Shoebox Swap card. However, I changed it by adding in the Honeydew and Cactus Cardstock. I used the original card base as the layer under the floral paper, didn't use all the embellishments that were send to make the original either.

You should see the original here at SCS.

Materials Used:
Stamps: TGF
Paper: CM Cardstock Cactus, Honeydew, Minds Eye
Ink: Memento, Copic RV13 Tender Pink, E00 Skin White, R35 Coral, Bic Mark-its Tiki Hut Tan, Woodsy Brown, Honey Brown, Pink Flamingo, Fandango Pink

Hi!

Here's a sneaky peek at what's coming up at the MSB blog for the challenge

Who likes Dustin Pike?

I think we all do whether we know it yet or not.

Have you seen his digi stamps yet? Check them out on his blog.

Or maybe you're a fan of DRS Designs, the latest line they came out with were stamps
designed by Dustin.

Or maybe you like the Paper Makeup stamps. He's also coming out with a new line for
them too.

Well, I just wanted to help get the word out that Dustin is offering some blog candy. And
to get your chance at it you just have to help do something you do already. Make cards, silly.

And pick a child to send them to over at Post Pals. And these kiddos are so cute so why
wouldn't you want to send them a card.

Follow the mailing directions and send it in the mail. Next post a photo or scan of what you did on your blog or site and Dustin is trusting everyone on this part (mail the item)... post a comment on his post that you have done all of this and he will choose 1 grand winner and 10 first prize winners.

How awesome is that. Even if you aren't chosen the grand winner, you still may be lucky
enough to be chosen for 1st prize.

Hi!

I wanted to let you know about the new challenge over at MSB. For this
challenge we were able to work with 3 images. However, I chose to work with
just this one.

I think it's pretty cute. And I love this dp

Crayon Background Techniques video

Hi!

I know it's been a while since I've created/posted a How To Video.

I'm still feeling under the weather and finding it difficult to talk for long without
coughing. :(

So I do apologize. However, I did find this technique over on the Hero Arts blog
and found it to be really interesting. I will have to see if we have crayons here in
my house. I prefer crayola but I can't remember if I bought those for my niece
and nephew. Plus, we've had them for quite a while since I bought them when they
were younger and now they're in middle school/junior high. I don't know what term
they use anymore. When I was going to school it was called middle school.

** Warning: Non-scrapbook related read at your own discretion. **

Infact, funny snippet but when I was in middle school the school I went to was called
Porter Middle School. It's not around anymore, well the building is they just renamed
it and remodeled it. It's now The Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders.
Actually, they closed down the high school I graduated from and then reopened it under
a new name too. It used to be Albert Sydney Johnson High School and now it's
reopened under East Side High. Which goes to show just how ghetto it is where I grew
up.

Anyway, back to where I went to middle school and this is part of why I remember it
being called middle school. So I went to Porter Middle School. Well, what are those
initials PMS and I don't know why but it must of been before I was old enough to go to
school there but they but the initials in the cafe-torium (cafeteria/auditorium) and the
gym. Infact, the cool food line was right by the initials. You know the stuff that wasn't
served in the cafeteria line. Back when I went to school only the kids that had sack
lunches or basically weren't the cool kids would get food from the regular cafeteria line
and the cool kids would either buy food from the line in front of the PMS or in the
vending machines.

** Back to your regularly scheduled reading. **

So back to the reason you even started reading this. The video.

Here it is:

Should I Twitter or Facebook?

Hi!

I've seen a lot of people lately that not only have a blog but also use Twitter or
Facebook.

So I've added a poll. It will be up for the next 6 days.

And please add a comment to explain why.

I really appreciate it.

Currently, I'm leaning more towards Facebook because I have an iPod Touch and iPod has Facebook setup as an application.

Friends Award

friends-award
Hi!

I just received this Friends award from my fellow Sugar Sue.

Please stop by and visit Sue. She’s very talented and her blog is wonderful!

Thank you so much Sue for thinking of me for this award. I feel very blessed and honored to receive it.

This award represents “blogs that are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more.”

I have chosen these 8 great and talented ladies. Some of these ladies are my fellow Sugars and some are on the Tutorial Team.

  1. Lydia at Understand Blue
  2. Stefanie at Stef is Scrappin N Stampin (she just started this blog)
  3. Brenda at Sassybee Stamps
  4. Erika at Stampin' Mama Designs
  5. Geeta at Crafty Engineer
  6. Michelle at Cherished Hearts
  7. Sue at Sue's Sentiments
  8. Tenia at Jazzy Inspirations
This was a tough choice as there are so many wonderful bloggers out there. Some of these are friends outside the blogosphere too and some are people that I just admire.

Hi!

This is my last card for the night.

And the sentiment on the card was for the Caardvarks challenge. Which is
"Don't quote me, but...".

couple of cards

Hi!

Yea! I got to create a couple of cards today. I hope to create some more.

It's been a while since I've had enough free time to actually make more than 1 card.

And sometimes 1 card is tough.

This first card I created using the card sketch from i (heart) 2 stamp.

I used some of the papers in my scrap pile to create this card. It looks
a lot better in person. And I am considering using it for a card swap that I
have to mail off this weekend.

couple

Materials Used:
Stamps: American Art Stamp Couple in love
Paper: CM Cardstock Pink Lemonade, Anna Griffin designer paper
Ink: VersaColor VC-82 Black, Copic YG11 Mignonette, Y02 Canary Yellow, BV04 Blue Berry, E00 Skin White, Spica 12 Silver, Bic Mark-it Fandango Pink, Midnight Navy, Woodsy Brown, Polynesian Purple, Petal Pink
Accessories: DCWV Missy Adhesive Ribbon

And this card came from Card Patterns. It's CP Sketch #13.

I also used some paper from my scrap pile to create this card. I'm
going to give this to my mil as her Mother's Day card. I know I already
made 2 Mother's Day cards but it turns out that we couldn't find my mil
that gift card so the card I created for that will be given to my mom. And
the card that I created for my mom I will save for her birthday this summer.

Mom quote just in the nick of time

Hi!

I received this quote this morning from A Fresh Perspective.

I get a quote a day from them and this one seemed just perfect for this weekend seeing as how it's Mother's Day on Sunday.

"Your Mother is always with you. She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, she's the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick and perfume that she wore. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not feeling well, she's your breath in the air on a cold winter's day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep . . . the colors of the rainbow . . . she is Christmas morning.

Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. A mother shows every emotion: happiness, sadness, fear, jealousy, love, hate, anger, helplessness, excitement, joy, sorrow . . . and all the while, hopes and prays you will only know the good feelings in life. She's the place you came from, your first home, and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space . . . not even death!" ~Unknown

Today is my day off and I'm debating over going to the scrapbook store to pickup some supplies or staying home and working on making cards.

I guess it depends on how far I get by 8:30 this morning which is in 2 hours. Because I'd have to take dh to work if I want to go to the scrapbook store. Since we only have 1 car.

Mother's Day Gift Card + DT Call

Mother's Day Gift Card
Inside:
Mother's Day Gift Card (inside)
Hi!

This is my Mother's Day card for my mil.

The card inside is NOT the gift. We still have to run to the store to get it.

The challenge over at CCEE Stampers is to make something for Mother's Day.

The challenge over at Stamp Something is to create "Something for a Mom". And also they are doing a DT call over at Stamp Something.

For the DT call we are to CASE a card created by the fabulous Cindy. Who is leaving the DT, btw she's being very generous this week by donating the blog candy.

This is Cindy's card that I CASEd from her blog.

I love this card that Cindy created and that's why I Copy and Selectively Edited it.

I changed:
  • the size of the card to a 4x4 rather than Standard card size
  • changed the stamp
  • changed the border punch to my Martha Stewart Floral Lace Edge Punch
  • removed the sentiment from the front of the card
I hope my mil likes it. I always worry because she owns the local scrapbook store and so she sees cards all the time.

Materials Used:
Stamps: SU! Polka Dot Punches
Paper: CM Cardstock White, Brown, Taffy, Raspberry, SU! Sweet Always

Ink:
SU! Chocolate Chip
Accessories: CM Circle Shapemaker, Martha Stewart Floral Lace Edge Punch, Nestabilities Labels One

I love the background stamp because it has "Mom" in all different languages.

Materials Used:

live, love, laugh

live, love, laugh
Hi!

I have had this stamp set for a while. I think I may have actually gotten it off of EBay.

But since it's a wood mounted stamp set it's a little less likely for me to use it because wood mounted blocks are harder to bring to crops. Whereas I can bring everyone of my acrylic sets to a crop.

Also, I was able to use my scrap stash. Which is always a good thing.

I used the sketch from Mojo Monday, it's week 84. They have some great sketches over there and I highly recommend that you check them out.

Also, the challenge over on 2 Red Bananas is Wearing Stripes which means you should include stripes in your design.

And I flipped the bow from the top of the sketch to the bottom and used a butterfly instead. Just to change things up a bit. I really like how it turned out.

Oh, and the butterfly was the challenge over at Ann's Creative Nook. GCA# 38 - Butterfly Wings.

Materials Used:
Stamps: SU! Spring Garden
Paper: CM Cardstock White, Royal Blue, Honeydew, Cactus

Ink:
SU! Chocolate Chip, Ballet Blue, Marvy Brush Markers No.100 Sapphire,
No.48
Leaf Green, No.52 Yellow Green
Accessories: SU! buttons, Quickutz Nesting Flowers CC-FLOWERS-01, CM Circle Shapemaker, Meadow maker, Nestabilities Labels One
