Hi!
This weeks question comes to us from Ruth in South Alabama.
Her question is in reference to the tutorial on Custom Candles.
She asks:
Good morning, I saw your candle project on paper planet and
want to try the project. I want to put a Magnolia print on it and
I usually use colored pencils. Will this transfer or do I need ink
or crayon?
Thank you for any information.
Ruth
Hi Ruth!
That's a good question.
And I have actually used colored pencils before when decorating
a candle. The thing about coloring with pencils is that you have
to be careful because of the tissue paper that you will be stamping
and coloring on. As long as it doesn't rip the tissue paper when you
are coloring with it, you can use it for your candle. I hope that helps.
Happy Crafting.

Hello Friend

Hi!
The Stamping Gods say this card is complete and here's why. Well, really I should say the Adhesive Gods.
While I was just about to finish this card wouldn't you know it I ran out of my adhesive. So then I go to grab the refill and OMG there's no refills in the house. I usually keep at least 5 refills on hand. So then I find some adhesive that I haven't used in FOREVER, but it's still good adhesive, but as it's not the adhesive I use on a regular basis I KNOW there's no refill in the house for it.
So I try to add adhesive onto the sentiment which as you can see is not a very big
piece of paper. And wouldn't you know it ran out too.
The paper is all scrap from my scrap pile. Which is finally organized. I'll have
to share a pic of how I have them organized, but I'm still waiting to finish off
my scrap room.
Also this card is paper pieced and primarily purple as that's the challenge at
Bellas Twisted Challenge over at SCS, check it out here.
I found the sketch for this card on one of my fave blogs for sketches, CPS. It's
CPS# 139.
The sentiment is from TAC it's one of the hostess sets. Have you heard of TAC?
If you have any questions about TAC feel free to email me at cr8iveme_at_gmail.com

Monday Tutorial - Buttony Bow
Hi!
I wanted to share this great tutorial that I found for the Monday Tutorial.
It's how to make a buttony bow on your card.
The sketch I used for this great card comes from Rubber Stamp Chat. It's
the October Sketch Challenge which is sponsored by Bombshell Stamps.
This is the first chance I've had to use my Bombshells.
And now onto my creation:

I slightly adjusted the sketch a bit. Rather than the standard 4 1/4 X 5 1/2.
I made a 6x6 card. And made the circle a bit bigger to fit my stamp, which
means it takes up a bit more space then the original sketch.
Let me know what you think.
Happy crafting.

Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers - Group# 29
Hi!
I just joined the Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers or SBS Group #29.
I can't wait to see what creations my sisters do.
OK. So I'm to use this time to say a little something about myself.
Hmm... (twiddling my fingers) ...
I grew up and still live in the Austin, TX area. Although technically I'm not
a Native Texan. I've lived here all my life not counting the first 4 years, which
is when I was born in Honolulu, HI (we lived there for about 2 years, or so
I've heard) and California for the other 2 years. Of course, I really don't
remember those first 4 years and that's why I consider myself a Texan.
Let's see I first got introduced to this wonderful art form called
scrapbooking/card making by my mil. She owns a local scrapbook store,
Memory Depot. Infact, the first card I ever made was my wedding invitation.
Now is that intimidating or what? That was back in the Spring of 2002. It's
terrible but I can't recall the actual date. You see I was busy juggling work,
school (for a little while), church (I was enrolled in LDS Institute, plus held a
calling as Ward Announcement writer, and in the Choir, can you tell I'm
Mormon), and engaged. Plus, with juggling all that wouldn't you know I got
walking pneumonia, which is when/why I had to drop out of College. After all
I wasn't going to cancel or postpone my wedding.
I didn't actually get back into scrapbooking/card making until after we moved
into our house. The actual date I started was on Feb 7, 2007. I only know the
actual date for this as that's the date I joined my first meetup group which is
also my scrapbooking group, the Austin AREA Stampers and Scrappers
group. This is a great group of gals to scrap with if you are in the Austin area.
Now, I have my blog, in fact my Blog-oversary is coming up on November
20th. Which coincides with the New Moon movie debut. FYI, I just recently
became a Twilight Addict. Team Edward all the way!!
And also I am a The Angel Company Angel. If you are looking for or have
questions about TAC feel free to email me at cr8iveme_at_gmail.com
I can't wait to check out the blogs of my new Sisters. Yay!!
Happy Crafting.

Happy Bee-rthday ...
Susanna!!!
Just in case you didn't know Saturday was Susanna Boyd's Bee-day.
So in honor of that special day I created this lovely card.

And the sentiment that I used

The Supernovas over at PCP are throwing Susanna a fab party, check it out here.
I found the card sketch over at Our Creative Corner, it's SASSC37.
The ribbon technique that I used was found here on ... just a little something, she's also
offering a lovely blog candy for anyone that creates a card using this technique.
Happy Crafting.

Dear Cr8ive ME
Hi!
I think that I may periodically start sharing your questions and the answers with the rest of my followers.
Basically, it's like my own version of "Dear Abby" except that the questions and answers will be craft related.
So here are a couple of questions I've recently received.
This question was posted in the comments section of my Monday Tutorial - Custom Candles.
So onto the question.
Kara asks:
What a wonderful idea and perfect tutorial. I'm so excited to try this!! I have one question. Since I've spent my money on stamps, I haven't got an embossing gun. I know for regular embossing that a hairdryer doesn't work. But, could it work with this?
Dear Kara,
What a wonderful question.
And you are correct that a hair dryer doesn't work the same as a embossing gun.
I totally understand. There are a couple of stamp companies, similar to Pampered Chef, that
are the stamping store that comes to your door. For example, SU!, CTMH, and The Angel Company. That's how I got my heat embossing gun by hosting a party. And if you are looking for a TAC Angel I'd be happy to help you. Feel free to email me at cr8iveme_at_gmail.com
Also you could check out Micheal's, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's or your local scrapbook store. They always have different ads or coupons going around where you could get a heat embossing gun for little as much as 50% off.
Happy crafting.

Dear Kara,

An embossing gun gets much hotter than your hair dryer, and puts out more focused and concentrated air. Your hair dryer will blow everywhere and won’t focus on the candle. Which is
very important for this project.

Happy Heart Day

I know, I know Halloween hasn't even happened and yet here I am with a
Valentine's Day themed card.
But isn't that dp just yummy.
I couldn't resist it when I was in my lss, Memory Depot, last Saturday.
And I love this sketch that I found at CPS it's CPS138.
I think this card is simple and elegant. I love those flowers and that brad. Can you
believe I found that brad in a pack while I was at CKC in the Dollar booth. How could
I resist.
The sentiment is from TAC's Label Lingo which is one of the Hostess sets. Haven't
heard of TAC or don't have an Angel? I'd love to help you out. Feel free to email me
at cr8iveme_at_gmail.com
I would have posted sooner but you know how it is. This is my first day off
in a while where I wasn't totally sick. So I had a ton of laundry to do. It was bad
you couldn't even see the floor before today. LOL

Blog Schedule
Hi!
I know it's been a while since I've done a proper blog post.
But I'm feeling much better now and am ready to start back up again.
I think in order to keep both my sanity and to not feel to badly about falling
behind on my blogging.
I will be coming up with a schedule for my blog.
As of now this is how I will be doing my posts.
Monday - Tutorial (this will be either written or video)
Wednesday - Cards (1 or more)
Friday - Possibly either posting blog candy (besides what I will include in
my sidebar) and/or cards/page layouts.
Also I will start posting periodical pictures of my craft room.
In addition, I will start posting my classes/crops on a monthly basis on the
blog. Possibly on the 1st but no later than the 15th. FYI I will start taking
and posting pics from my classes/crops.
Happy Crafting.

I hate being sick ...
because it makes my body not want to do anything.
Especially craft which is my most favorite thing to do.
I have always had a weak immune system. So I get sick very easily.
Right now, I'm working on my Shoebox Swap cards for the Austin Area
Shoebox Swap THIS SATURDAY.
And I've gotten it mostly done except for the embellishments and the stamping
but the card base and what goes directly on top of it are already cut out for
the group. And even separated into their own little bags, 40 to be exact.
I have 4 extras cut for me so that I can try to make a decision hopefully tonight,
definitely no later than tomorrow.
I will post that card ASAP or as soon as I figure out what it's going to look like.
Happy Crafting.
