Let's Go Somewhere

Hi!

Today's challenge over at the Can You Digi It? blog is

I still have photos from my last vacation that need to be put into scrapbooks.

But I will have to say the best part of our last vacation was that my hubby got me a wonderful journal to keep all my memories in.

So the minute I heard about this challenge I was reminded of my journal and  was inspired to create this one.

Stamps: C.Y.D.I. City Smash Stamps by Lily Pink Designs, TPC Studio Travel Collage
Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: CTMH Archival Black
Accessories: Buttons Galore and More Grab Bag, Michaels Winter Cottage Journal, Celebrate It Harvest ribbon, BasicBasic ribbon, Offray Simply Grosgrain

If you have a chance over the next two weeks to play along in this challenge we'd love to see what you create. Please remember to use a digi and make sure it has something to do with travel.

You perk me up

Hi!

I created this card for the Can You Digi It? blog's challenge called Lift Me Up.

Now I don't know about you but what lifts me up someday's is a large cup of hot chocolate.

Yes, even in the middle of the hot Texas summer I still occasionally need a good cup of hot chocolate.

Maybe, it's because when I was growing up my mom always had a cup of coffee to start her day.

You see as a Mormon I can't actually have a cup of coffee but I can enjoy hot chocolate.

So when I heard the title to the challenge I couldn't help but think about that cup of hot chocolate.

Stamps: C.Y.D.I. To Go Cup, Stamping Bella perk me up PEEPS
Paper: Bazzill Basics Paper Mono Green, SU! Flock Together, Island Oasis
Ink: CTMH Archival Black
Accessories: Tim Holtz Alterations Subway
Do you need a little pick me up drink to help lift you out of bed? or even a funk?

What drink do you turn to?

Now I'll have to be honest I think I'm the only one on the DT who's creation is about something as simple as a cup.

Y'all should definitely check out what the other DT gals came up with for this challenge.

If you have time we'd love to see what you create based off this theme. Don't forget to use a digital element in your creation though.

Happy Crafting,
M.E.

Not a Christmas in July

Hi!

I've noticed lately that so many people do Christmas in July posts on their blog.

Well that's just not my style. It's not that I don't make Christmas cards.

But the one card that I rarely do create has got to be Hanukkah cards.

It's probably because it's been a while since I've been to a Hanukkah party. And yes we
do have Jews down here in Texas. And they even invite their friends to their Hanukkah celebration.

Of course, being Texans we do things a bit different. Rather then playing the traditional
dreidel game we played Texas Hold'em dreidel.

Yesterday the newest challenge over on the Can You Digi It? blog was announced and it's Holiday hullabaloo.

And here is my card that I created for the challenge.

Stamps: C.Y.D.I. Menorah image by Betty Edwards, Hero Arts Happy Chanukah
If you have an opportunity to play along with our challenge in the next two weeks we'd love to see your creation. Remember it needs to use a digi image, which can be a stamp, sentiment, or paper. And has to go along with our Holiday hullabaloo challenge.

Happy Crafting,

Pawprints on your heart

Hi!

So today's challenge over at the Can You Digi It? blog is Lovin' Our Pets.

For those of you who don't know my pets are my life. So this challenge was right up my alley.

I based my coloring off of my oldest baby Einstein, a Boston Terrier.

This is an old picture of him back when he was just a puppy.

Stamps: Boston manufactured by KiniArt for Can You Digi It? , Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Ruff Day
Ink: CTMH Archival Black, Copic R11 Pale Cherry Pink, Bic Mark-it Stone Grey, Cloud Nine Grey
Accessories: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Eight

We would love to see your creation based on Lovin' your pets. So if you have time over the next two weeks you should definitely stop by and play along with us over at the Can You Digi It? blog.

White Wedding Pop!

Hi!

I just love June! Don't you?

It reminds me of weddings. I know there are weddings all year round but it seems like June has the most.

Of course, that's my opinion.

You see I was a June bride. In fact, I picked the date that was my mother and birth father's anniversary date. I wanted there to be a happier memory to that day.

Also, when I was planning my wedding there were 3 other couples in our Ward who were also planning theirs. In fact, one of them got married in the same temple on the same day as we did. I didn't see them but my DH did.

It was tough picking that day. You see a really close childhood friend of mine was also really good friends with a girl getting married that exact same day. And my reception didn't have nearly as many people as I was expecting because since that was the same day a lot of couples were getting married. They were also holding their receptions that day too.

But you know what. I've been married for 11 years now. And it's the best decision I ever made. DH and I have had our ups and downs especially last year. But we survived it and our marriage is stronger  for it.

So today over at the Can You Digi It? blog we were challenged to do a White Wedding with a PoP of color. Basically, the challenge is to create a wedding/party themed project featuring black and white with just a PoP of color. Can you tell that I picked the theme?

This is the inspiration board just in case you need some inspiration for White Wedding with a PoP of color.

And this is my project for the challenge.

Stamps:  A Creative Need Celebrate with Cake
Paper: CTMH White Daisy, Colonial White, The Paper Company Black Cardstock, scraps
Ink: Tombow ABT
Accessories: Cuttlebug Kassie's Brocade, Script Texture, Allegro, ribbon stash

Do you like it? My DH helped me pick the colors. We were inspired by our youngest niece's recent wedding. Well, I say recent but she actually had a December wedding. But her colors definitely reflect a spring/summer wedding better then mine did. My colors were hunter green and burgundy. And that just feels to much like Christmas to me, even though it's my favorite color combo.

If you have a chance to stop by the Can You Digi It? blog we'd love to see your creation. The only thing we ask other than that your project fit the theme is that you use a digi stamp. We have some FREE stamps over at the Can You Digi It? shop but you are welcome to use any digi stamps that you have.

Happy Crafting,
M.E.

Gardening

Hi!

I'm always so impressed by how lovely gardens are.

But for me that just doesn't work out. You see I have a black thumb. Roses die on my watch, within less than a week. Heck the only reason we have a garden type area in the front of my house is because it came that way. In fact, although the garden type area was still mature by the time we moved here I still managed to kill off one of the bushes.

Thankfully a rose bush grew in it's place. Don't ask me how it got there. Like I said, I have a black thumb and had nothing to do with it. You see this rose bush just miraculously sprouted and now although it does continue to grow the roses do tend to die off.

The reason I mention this is because this week over at the Can You Digi It? blog we were challenged to use the color YELLOW.

Now personally, I'm not to big a fan of the color.

I mean I'll use it for hair and flowers but that's about it.

Personally, I think my scrap stash and ribbon jars really do represent my color preferences. For me those colors would have to be pinks, reds, and whites. I have so much of those colors in my stashes that they're busting at the seams.

As for yellow and orange as well, I have those two colors stored together in a ribbon jar and that's not even half full. I think I may just be too girly for those colors. LOL

Not that there's anything wrong with those colors, but that's just not me.

The reason I mention this is so you understand that this truly was a challenge for me. And since it was such a challenge I figured I may as well use something else that is equally as challenging to me. And that brings us to today's card.

So this is the result:
Stamps: LilyPink Designs Watering Can
Paper: from my scraps
Ink: Copic BV04 Blue berry, W2 Warm Gray No.2, Sharpie, Bic Mark-it Moonstone Yellow
Accessories: Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles, Bazzill Basics Ribbon Green Dashed, CM Meadow Micro Maker, CM Custom Cutting System Circle, Martha Stewart String Lace edge punch, Cuttlebug Swiss dots

What do you think?

For someone who's not a big fan of yellow I think there is a lot of it in this card. Do you agree?

Also for someone who can't garden to save her life, I feel that at least this card would be wonderful for someone who can.

We would love to have you come and play with us over at the Can You Digi It? blog. You can use any digi stamp or paper you have. And although this week we are challenging you to use YELLOW, normally our challenges are much easier.

Happy Crafting,
M.E.

Paris

Bonjour!

Today's post is featuring something definitely out of the box for me.

It's not a card or a scrapbook layout. Nope, today I'm sharing with you this lovely necklace I created for the Can You Digi It? blog challenge #36 - Anything but a Card.

Stamps: C.Y.D.I. City Stamps
 Ink: StazOn Jet Black
Accessories: Industrial Chic Jump Ring, Bead Landing Cording, Rummikub game piece

I just love French and France. I love France from a design aspect and the French language is lovely.

Way back when I was in Middle School, I took French. I even got an award for being "c'est magnifique" in the way I spoke French.

If you have a chance to play along with us over at the Can You Digi It? blog we'd love to see your creation.

May this bee

Hi!

Today's card was made for the Can You Digi It? Challenge #35 - Birthday Flowers.

Stamps: Betty Edwards' Busy Bee for C.Y.D.I., Langley Boy Designs Gettin' Buggy With It!
Ink: CTMH Pacifica, Copic R35 Coral, YG11 Mignonette, Sharpies, Tombow ABT
Accessories: CTMH Round Sponge

That's why my little bee is off to pick just the right flowers and wants to wish Mynnette, she's the Guest Design Team member for C.Y.D.I. a very happy birthday!

If you have time we'd love to have you join us.

Just an FYI for the picture itself I used the sponging technique. I felt it needed a touch more color.

Get Sketchy

Hi!

Today I have a couple of cards to share with you.

They both are my interpretation of the newest Can You Digi It? blog
challenge which is Challenge #34 - It's Sketchy.

You should definitely come out and play along with us. C.Y.D.I.? is providing a free digi of the sketch.

The first card is also an homage to Doctor Who. As the filmstrip sort of reminded me of a couple of Doctor Who episodes I'd seen featuring the Doctor. But my version has a message from River Song.

Stamps: LilyPink Designs for C.Y.D.I. Love Tags
Ink: Brother Printer, Martha Stewart Writing Pen Ebony
Accessories: Sizzix Filmstrip die, Tim Holtz Alterations Filmstrip Frames

This is my second card. My DH didn't think it represented this week's sketch very well though.

Stamps: C.Y.D.I. Button Card
Ink: Brother Printer, Martha Stewart Writing Pen Ebony
Accessories: Lifestyle Crafts QuicKutz Cutting Dies Nesting Doily Circles, SU! Bitty Banners

Oh, if you're wondering I hand wrote the sentiments for both cards.

Butterfly birthday

Hi!

Today marks a new challenge over at the Can You Digi It? blog.

Our challenge this time is Challenge #33 - Butterflies.

I just love butterflies, they're so beautiful and whimsical.

That's what my project was going for this time.

Stamps: Delightfully Distressing Designs’ Butterfly Bliss stamps (for C.Y.D.I.?), CTMH Joyful Birthday
Ink: StazOn Jet Black
Accessories: Hemptique Bakers Twine, MS Monarch Butterfly, 3-in-1 Butterfly

For the major butterfly I used the  Delightfully Distressing Designs’ Butterfly Bliss stamps.

The smaller butterflies were created with some Martha Stewart punches.

And the sentiment stamp is from Close to My Heart, it's
called Joyful Birthday Occassions.

If you've got a digi stamp whether it's a butterfly or just a sentiment
and you use butterfly punches. We'd love to have you play along
with us in this fun challenge.

Happy Crafting,
M.E.

Male birthday

Hi!

This week over at Can You Digi It? There is a fun new challenge #31 to create something for a male birthday. This is so great because I tend to create quite a lot of masculine cards. But rarely do I think about making them for birthdays.

For my card I thought of the most manly job I could. Which for me is that of a soldier. And C.Y.D.I. has the perfect stamp for this. It's the dog tag, of course it works great if you are creating for a dog too. And it's a great way to start getting into digi/hybrid stamping. Plus you can't beat the price.

I also used the Close To My Heart Durables Round for the bullets. I thought it really gave the card more of a military feel. The durables come in 3 different styles - square, round, and artisan. In addition to that I also used an eyelet and a chain. I believe it creates a very cohesive look.

If you have some time please stop by and play along with this challenge. After all we all have some guy whose important in our life like our father, brother, nephew, granddad, husband, or maybe our dog.

In my house there's my husband and my two boy dogs Einstein and Newton.
Stamps: C.Y.D.I.? Dog Tag, SU! Afterthoughts
Paper: The Paper Studio Textured Camo, The Paper Company Kraft Cardstock
Ink: SU! Going Gray, StazOn Jet Black
Accessories: CTMH Durables Round

Close up of corner of card
Whose the important guy in your life? Have you created a birthday card or layout celebrating his birthday? If its time to do so this would be the perfect week to play along with us at the C.Y.D.I. blog.

Happy crafting,
M.E.
