Sweet 16

Hi!

I hope y'all have had a great weekend. I know some of you are probably enjoying a three day or four day weekend.

It's been a busy one for me.

Friday I went to a party which I will share a card that was inspired by it, later. And Saturday we celebrated my niece Alyssa's Sweet 16.

It was pretty low key. Family and friends were in attendance. As far as gifts go since she's a sixteen year old girl, she pretty much just wanted money.

This is my niece with her boyfriend. Don't they look so cute together.
And this is the card I created for her.

Paper: Basic Grey Sultry
Ink: CTMH Chocolate
Accessories: Bazzill Basics Ribbon Brown Dashed, Offray Sheerly Yours, QuicKutz Emily die cut, Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Circles SM, CM Custom Cutting System Circles, Tim Holtz Sewing Room
The other items used to create this card are an acrylic $1 stamp set. I bought it back when you could still get acrylic stamps at that price. And the skirt is made of flowers from my stash.

My hubby liked it because it reminded him of a ballerina tutu. And my niece thought it was beautiful.

What do you think?

Happy birthday wishes

Hi!

I know y'all will probably notice that I've been sharing a lot of birthday cards lately.

That's because I've got a lot of birthday cards to create for my Relief Society.

As it's Monday I'm using a sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

It's sketch #18. I can't believe they've had this challenge blog up for 18 weeks.

I just love having a place to find wonderful sketches.

Sometimes that's the hardest part of creating for me.

You know, I'll want to create something but I'll have no idea on where to start. That's why I love sketches because it helps guide my work.

My creation may not look exactly like the original sketch but they're definitely a wonderful starting point for my creativity.

This is the sketch from AHSC

And here is my creation based off it

Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Accessories: Cuttlebug Asterisks, Happy Birthday ef, DCWV Birthday Adhesive Ribbon

If you have an opportunity to play along with us this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. We'd love to see your creation.

Happy Crafting,

Pop of birthday wishes

Hi!

It's Monday and that means it's time for a new sketch challenge over at A.H.S.C.

You can always incorporate these sketches in several different ways:

  • you could do a canvas piece with it
  • a page layout
  • a card
  • or a 3D project

Here is where I was inspired to take this sketch.

If you have a chance to play along with this sketch this week. We'd love to see your creation.

Happy birthday in a dash

Hi!

I've been wanting to play along over at Pretty Pink Posh and do one of their 10 Minute Craft Dash's.

And this one sounded like a lot of fun. Mostly because it was an open theme and color. For the 10 Minute Craft Dash #21 we were asked to feature stars.

Which I totally think I accomplished. I created this card in 6:58.6 minutes. Basically a little under 7 minutes. Sorry, I don't have a video of me creating this card or even one of the time on the iPhone, but my DH took the small pocket camera that he let me have with him on his trip to China. I will definitely try to take a video or at least a picture of the stop watch the next time though.

So, yes, you can create a card in under 10 minutes but trust me I learned just how long it does actually take me to create a card even when it is CAS(clean and simple). Just imagine how long it takes when it's a little more detailed. I mean at least for me. I'm sure there are people who could create this card much faster.

I found this star die cut earlier this week at Archiver's, but although it was on clearance at 50% off. The price was still $15 before tax. But just yesterday they sent out an email that all their clearance was an extra 40% off. So how could I pass that up?

As I have more crafting supplies then I can play with in a day. There wasn't much else at Archiver's that interested me. But I will be taking a class tomorrow to learn a few techniques I haven't heard of or at least tried out yet.

This is such a CAS design that I'm sure if you wanted to you could definitely CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) it.

Also, I like the way the sentiment reminds me of star dust.

So what do you think?

Stamps: Wordsworth Stamps Everyday Whimsy
Paper: SU! Black
Ink: CTMH White Daisy
Accessories: QuicKutz Stars (exclusively for Archiver's)
Techniques: heat embossing

I hope y'all are having a great TGIF.

Oh, if you would like to stop by tomorrow I will be participating in a blog hop. So if you'd like to see what some wonderful crafters do with the CTMH SOTM you should definitely stop by.

Happy Crafting,
M.E.
